Economies: July's been a remarkably mixed bag
The daily news doesn't give a very accurate picture of the overall performance of markets in turbulent times. But the monthly analysis of major markets shows a remarkable picture.
It's all to easy to get wrapped up in the opening and closing prices for a market, with excitable presenters on business news channels using the same script each day: "Asian markets followed [US or European] markets [up or down].
A slightly longer term view shows something very different.
